We had a great time staying at your lovely (and very comfortable) home and enjoyed our chats with you. Good to stay with some one who knows the area so well. If we come your way another time, we would love to stay again, and will certainly recommend you to any of our friends hoping to visit NZ - couldn't stay at a better place!

We were pleased to find accomodation in a location close to Featherston, Greytown, and Martinborough. We had the option to accomodate up to 8 people. We were greeted with kindness that continued throughout our three night stay. A great place to stay for those with specific dietry requirements. We are booking again for next year. Oh and the fireplace pumped out some heat perfect on a cooler autumn night.

Spent 4 days staying with Maryann & Jan during a holiday in Wairarapa. Lovely hosts who go out of their way to make us feel at home and welcome. Beautiful food for breakfast, served in their own home from ingredients grown on site.
Very central and easy access to the explore the Wairarapa. Thank you for a lovely holiday

We just got back from our short and very sweet stay in Featherston. Jan and Maryanne are incredibly welcoming and friendly hosts and we were bowled over by the lengths they went to to accommodate us. One of us has many food intolerances, which can be miserable, but Maryanne and Jan came up with a 3 course meal for us with only 24 hours notice. The grounds are also worth the wander, with many flowering and fruiting things - many of which end up on the dining table. Loved it.

We had the pleasure of staying here while away for the weekend for a friend’s wedding. The hospitality was exceptional, Maryann and Jan have a beautiful set up. The surrounding land and all the trees created a relaxing environment to catch up with friends. Maryann provided a beautiful breakfast spread on both mornings and their friendly nature kept us comfortable throughout the entire stay. We happily recommend this to anyone and everyone planning a stay in Featherston. Thank you again!

What a beautiful place to stay. Highly recommend it to anyone that would like to get away from their busy lifestyle and bustling city life to unwind and relax. Jan and Maryann made us feel right at home with their delicious home made baking and breakfast dishes. Will definitely be back again when in the Wairarapa. 10/10

Lovely cosy cottage in a beautiful peaceful setting - but the best thing about Whispering Winds was the lovely hosts Maryann and Jan. Friendly and obliging, they even lit the log fire for us while we were out so we had a lovely warm fire to come home to, and put on a wonderful and unique breakfast of fresh bread and home made jam and condiments. Thanks for making our little getaway so enjoyable.

We enjoyed our stay, especially the spacious and peaceful garden. The children had a great time playing cops and robbers and with 5 hectares of garden at their disposal the robbers were very had to find. Maryanne’s hospitality was first rate and her breakfasts superb. We particularly enjoyed the fresh strawberries and raspberries from her garden. joyful

Thank you Jan and Maryann for such a wonderful stay joyful I had the very good fortune of staying at Whispering Winds for 2 and a half weeks and thoroughly enjoyed wonderful company and beautiful surroundings. Their property is gorgeous and it's inspiring to see how much love and work has gone into it. Thank you again Jan and Maryann, I will never forget my time with you!

We had a lovely break in the Wairarapa. And no, it wasn't because of the weather! It was cold and wet but we received a warm welcome from Maryann and Jan. The cottage was toasty warm and the European breakfasts were delicious (esp. the muesli and yoghurt) and Jan's breads.

A peaceful weekend and some new friends. Thank you both.

Thank you to Maryann and Jan for making our stay very pleasant indeed. They are so welcoming and friendly and we enjoyed the leisurely breakfasts. Jan's bread is out of this world and we are going to try our hand at making our own with the recipes Maryann provided us. The cottage is warm and comfortable and the grounds are wonderful for little ones to explore. We can't wait to come back with the rest of the family! excited

It is now such a long time since I stayed with Jan and Maryann and I am annoyed with myself for not making an entry sooner. I stayed for a fortnight in May/June 2010. I am a New Zealander coming back for a brief while to my home base of the Wairarapa. Staying with Jan and Maryann was truly like being one of the family and I have strong memories of my stay - Jan's breadmaking skills being a case in point - the smell is out of this world accompanied by a great taste. I cannot recommend a stay here high enough. Certainly the next time I am back in NZ a stay at Jan and Maryann's will be top of my itinerary.

Thanks so much Jan and Maryann for letting us share your bit of paradise in the Wairarapa. The cottage was an ideal base for us for the Wings over Wairarapa Air Show and we thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent with you both. Breakfast was amazing with all your home-made goodies and the strawberries tasted like a burst of summer - beautiful. Thanks again and we hope to return soon.

We had an absolutely fantastic time. The cottage is private and spacious and had everything we needed. The property is beautiful and had great environmental integrity. It is nicely away from the main town centres but close enough to get to any one of them in 5 minutes. Maryann and Jan were the most gracious hosts, always available but never intrusive. We can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Thank you Jan and Maryann for your wonderful hospitality and for having the woodburner already stoked up for us on our arrival on a cold and wet evening. Our breakfast made up of home made bread, cereal, yoghurt and jams were delicious. The cottage was spotless and very homely. We will definitely come back.

We enjoyed our stay in your lovely cabin for the 3rd time. It's very comfortable and clean and Maryann's yummy muffins really sustained us through a long day at the Martinborough fair. We sure appreciated the second batch which got us back to Nelson. Thank you for your extra special hospitality Jan and Maryann and we'll see you next month!

Thanks for the stay with you over the weekend. Neil and I loved it. We went out for lunch then came back to the cottage for a lovely afternoon sitting on the porch before venturing off to a wedding down the road.
We had a very yummy breakfast in the morning, and had a great chat with our hosts.
Thank you very much for the beans from your garden. We had them with our dinner tonight.

In anticipation of a hot air balloon ride out of Carterton the following morning, we stayed in the Cottage the previous evening. It was very clean and comfortable and the whole setting very conducive to relaxation. Unfortunately the hot air balloon ride was postponed and we immediately re-booked two night's accommodation at Easter, testament to our satisfaction. We hope the gentle wind will stay away next time!

We returned to Whispering Winds having had such a nice time first time around. We find the hosts very welcoming, and we appreciated them sharing with us their knowledge on gardening, European cooking, and making your own cosmetics. Held interesting and inspiring conversations until late at night.

The surrounds are lovely, and we were pleased to have a small bit of time out when Maryann walked our child around the property. Thoroughly recommend staying.

We had a lovely relaxing stay in the holiday cottage. The cottage was lovely and warm on some cold June days and we loved being able to walk around the property with our 17 month old daughter (for whom the soft toys were a real highlight!). And as for the freshly baked bread and homemade preserves and muesli for breakfast....just sublime! Thoroughly recommended, we'll be back.
